UGC allows Students to Pursue Two Full-time Academic Programs
The University Grants Commission (UGC) announced that students are now permitted to pursue two full-time academic programmes at a time in regular mode. UGC has updated new guidelineson the official website. Earlier, students were able to pursue one full-time degree along with online/short-term/diploma courses.
The guidelines will apply to all the programmes available across the country. Students have different options to choose a combination of a diploma programme and an undergraduate (UG) degree, two masterβs programmes, or two bachelorβs programmes. Suppose a student is eligible to pursue a postgraduate (UG) degree and wants to enrol in a bachelorβs degree in a different domain. In that case, they will be able to pursue a UG and PG degree simultaneously. The class timing for both programmes should be different. UGC introduced new guidelines as, NEP 2020emphasises the need for students to acquire multiple skills.
