Report on Two-Day National-Level Workshop on Research Methodology and Applications of Generative AI in Research Hosted by Marian College Kuttikkanam (Autonomous)

The PG Department of Computer Applications, Marian College Kuttikkanam Autonomous, successfully organized a Two-Day National-Level Workshop on Research Methodology and Applications of Generative AI in Research, in association with the Kerala State Higher Education Council (KSHEC). The event was co-hosted by IQAC, Educational Research & Development, LUC MRC of Marian College and was held on 14th and 15th February 2025 at Marian College Kuttikkanam, Kerala.

The workshop aimed to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of research methodologies and how Generative AI can be applied to enhance research work. The workshop attracted attendees from various educational institutions and research organizations across the country.

Inaugural Ceremony and Welcome Address
The event commenced with an official welcome and inauguration, followed by an introduction to the workshop objectives and schedule. The workshop was graced by eminent dignitaries and resource persons.

• Mar Jose Pulickal, Bishop of Kanjirappally Diocese, served as the Patron of the event.
• Dr. Rajan Gurukkal, Vice Chairman of KSHEC, delivered the keynote address.
• Dr. Rajan Varughese, Member Secretary of KSHEC, shared insights on the significance of research methodology in today’s academic environment.
• Rev. Fr. Boby Alex Mannamplackal, Manager of Marian College, provided a warm welcome to all participants and emphasized the importance of research in academic excellence.

Resource Persons and Their Contributions:
The workshop brought together a team of distinguished experts who shared their knowledge and experiences in the fields of research methodology and Generative AI.

• Dr. Murali Vallabhan, Director of the Centre for Sustainable Development and Marian Institute of Management, Marian College, Kuttikkanam, was the keynote speaker. With his extensive experience in Sustainable Development, Environmental Education, and Corporate Social Responsibility, Dr. Vallabhan’s session provided valuable insights into integrating sustainability into research.
• Dr. Sunil Job K.A, Director of Educational Research and Development, Marian College, Kuttikkanam, and Chief of Academic Solutions – IPSR, shared his expertise in Outcome-Based Education (OBE), E-Learning, and Research Methodology. With over 30 years of academic experience, Dr. Job’s session highlighted the importance of effective research techniques and practical applications in the academic field.
• Dr. Suresh Namboothiri, Founder Member of Espoir Technologies, Pune, and former COO of Tata Motors, led a session on Research Methodology using Generative AI. With over three decades of experience, including a pivotal role in the development of India’s first car (Tata Indica), Dr. Namboothiri brought a unique perspective to integrating AI in research and product development.

The workshop witnessed an enthusiastic participation of over 100+ attendees from academic institutions, research bodies, and industries.
