The IQAC of Sacred Heart College (Autonomous), Chalakudy, in association with ipsr solutions limited, successfully organized a one-day workshop on “Smart Assessments with OBE Approach: OBE Strategies, Precise Exam Design, and QnSmart i Implementation for Quality Education” on March 5, 2025. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 60+ faculty members across 15+ departments, reflecting a shared commitment to advancing modern assessment methodologies in higher education.
The workshop commenced with a warm welcome address, setting the tone for a day of insightful learning and collaboration. The event was graced by esteemed dignitaries, including:
– Principal Prof. (Dr.) Sr. Reena Ittyachan, who emphasized the importance of integrating Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and smart assessment tools in academia.
– Dr. V. Neetha, IQAC Coordinator, who highlighted the institution’s dedication to continuous improvement in educational practices.
– Dr. Santhosh Paul, Controller of Examinations, who underscored the need for precise exam design and alignment with learning outcomes.
The organizing team, including Dr. Laina AL and Ms. Fency K F, played a pivotal role in ensuring the seamless execution of the event.
The academic session was led by Dr. Mendus Jacob, MD & CEO of ipsr solutions limited, who provided a comprehensive overview of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) and Bloom’s Taxonomy. The session focused on bridging theoretical frameworks with practical implementation strategies, equipping participants with tools to design SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) learning outcomes.
The FDP began with a welcome address, followed by an insightful session by Dr. Mendus Jacob, who emphasized the significance of OBE-aligned assessments in the modern education system. He provided an overview of the latest trends in smart assessments and discussed the role of AI-driven solutions in enhancing exam evaluation and design.
Mr. Nibin Sunny conducted a hands-on training session, demonstrating the features and functionalities of QnSmart i, an advanced tool for designing OBE-based question papers. Assisted by Mr. Nithin PM, faculty members actively engaged in creating OBE-aligned question banks, gaining practical exposure to AI-assisted assessment platforms.
The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Smitha Davis, Assistant Professor & Head, Department of Mathematics. She expressed gratitude to the organizing team, participants, and ipsr solutions limited for their contributions to the event’s success.
